Fashion Photography London Biography
At a time when it can be difficult to find that rare quality known as class, it is refreshing to see Grace Kelly back in the limelight. The late actress and her inimitable fashion sense are the focus of ''Grace Kelly: Style Icon,'' an exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum (Cromwell Road; 44-20-7942-2000; vam.ac.uk; free admission) through Sept. 26.

The show traces her life from Philadelphia socialite to Hollywood star to Oscar winner, and finally to her fairy-tale role as Princess Grace of Monaco. Though classically beautiful, she achieved her status not simply by virtue of her features but with her sense of style. It helped, of course, that her outfits were designed by the likes of Dior, Balenciaga and Givenchy.

''We tell the story of her life through her clothes,'' said Jenny Lister, a curator of textiles and fashion at the museum. ''Because she had worked as a model, she really understood them - how they were made and the effects one could get through certain looks. She dressed with classic simplicity.''

Also included in the exhibition are outfits she wore in movies like ''High Society,'' ''To Catch a Thief'' and ''Rear Window,'' as well as her wedding ensemble, a grand gown of lace, silk, seed pearls and tulle, on loan from the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Complementing these displays are posters, photographs and film clips; along with screenings of the films she made with Alfred Hitchcock (including ''Rear Window'' and ''To Catch a Thief'') so visitors can see her fashion sense in action. As gorgeous as those dresses were, it took Grace Kelly to make them really sing.

Stacy London is one of America's foremost fashion experts. She is currently the co-host of TLC's hugely popular show, What Not To Wear.

In 2005 Stacy joined The Today Show on NBC as a style correspondent and has regularly appeared on Access Hollywood as a fashion expert. Previous to a career in television, Stacy developed her keen sense of style in fashion editorial. A true arbiter of fashion, she began her career at Vogue magazine as a fashion assistant and later returned to Conde Nast as the senior fashion editor at Mademoiselle. She has styled fashion photos for such varied editorial publications as Italian D, Nylon and Contents. In addition, Stacy has worked with a number of celebrities as their personal stylist, including Kate Winslet, Katie Holmes and Liv Tyler, as well as having consulted on fashion shows for designers such as Rebecca Taylor, Vivienne Tam and Ghost.

Stacy has appeared on numerous national talk and news shows including Oprah, CNN, The Jane Pauley Show, CBS's The Early Show, Showtime's American Candidate, Good Day Live and MSNBC. In addition, Stacy has appeared as an expert in countless magazines including USA Weekend, US Weekly, People, Glamour, Redbook, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and more. She also hosted her own talk show on TLC, Fashionably Late with Stacy London, a weekly chat show - sassy, stylish, inspirational and a little bit naughty, just like its host.

After growing up in Manhattan, Stacy graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Vassar College with a double degree in 20th Century Philosophy and German Literature. She regularly devotes time to Step Up Women's Network and works with both the American Cancer Society and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Stacy has consulted for numerous corporations and has acted as spokesperson for many brands including, Pantene, Riders by Lee Jeans, Woolite, Dr. Scholl's, Calvin Klein and Hanes. She speaks on the subject of style for charities and corporations such as Starwood Hotels and PricewaterhouseCoopers and has given seminars for the Learning Annex in New York City. She has been the keynote speaker at several women's events and is a regular speaker at the yearly O You! Event for O, The Oprah Magazine. In 2006, she spoke at Harvard University on the connection between building self-esteem and personal style.

Her first book on style by body type (co-written with Clinton Kelly), entitled Dress Your Best, was published in September 2005 to stellar reviews.

Even when she is appearing before large groups as a celebrity speaker, Ms. London maintains an intimate relationship with the entire audience - making everyone feel special and as if they were the focal point of her attention. Perfect for a fun, uplifting corporate event or business gathering, Stacy provides plenty of real-world tips in all of her speeches, helping individuals learn how to better present themselves, and feel great while they're doing it (even on a tight budget).

Fashion Photography London Biography

David Bailey born in London, England, he taught himself photography, before serving with the Royal Air Force in Malaysia in 1957. In 1959 he became a photographic assistant at the John French studio before being contracted as a fashion photographer for Vogue magazine. He also did a large amount of freelance work.

Along with Terence Donovan, he captured, and in many ways helped create the Swinging London of the 1960s: a culture of high fashion and celebrity chic. Both photographers socialised with actors, musicians and royalty, and found themselves elevated to celebrity status. Together, they were the first real celebrity photographers.

The Swinging London scene was aptly reflected in his Box of Pin-Ups (1964): a box of poster-prints of 1960s celebrities and socialites including Terence Stamp, The Beatles, and notorious East End gangsters The Kray Twins. The box was an unusal and unique commercial release, and it reflected the changing status of the photographer that one could sell a collection of prints in this way. (The strong objection to the presence of the Krays on the part of Lord Snowdon was the major reason no American edition of the "Box" ever appeared, nor a British second edition issued.

In 1966, the movie Blowup was made. The film concerned itself with the work (and sexual perks) of a London fashion photographer who was largely based on Bailey.

As well as fashion photography, Bailey has been responsible for record album sleeve art, for performers including The Rolling Stones and Marianne Faithfull. He has also directed several television commercials and documentaries.

photography as an artist using photography, he set out to re-invent
the photographic document.

His photos, often blurred or out of focus, his high-contrast
prints (his negatives were often severely over-exposed),
his use of high-grain film and wide angles shocked
the established order of the photography world and he
earned a reputation as an anti-photographer's photographer.

Inspired by moholy-nagy and kepes, he began to
experiment with juxtaposing abstract painting and photography.
alexander liberman, painter and director of 'vogue' america
met klein at one of klein's parisian sculpture shows and
was fascinated, both by his sculpture (kinetic light panels on
photosensitive glass)and by the photographs klein had recently
begun to take. he invited klein to come to new york to
discuss a job.

Bailey has married four times: in 1960 to Rosemary Bramble, in 1967 to the actress Catherine Deneuve (divorced 1972), in 1975 to the model Marie Helvin and in 1986 to the actress Catherine Dyer to whom he is married as of 2004. He was awarded the CBE in 2001.
