Outdoor Fashion Photography Biography
I grew up in Midland Texas until I was sixteen, then moved to Fort Collins Colorado, lived there for ten years until I met my husband. From there we moved to Oklahoma to manage his Dad’s farm. I’ve always fished but unfortunately never was able to hunt until I moved to Oklahoma.

The best hunting experience I’ve had so far is hunting coyotes. One of my favorite times in particular was calling them in wearing a tank top and boxer shorts. We had been out swimming at a pond on the farm when we heard them. I decided to grab the gun and see if I could do any good especially looking the way I did with absolutely no camo on and lord only knows how I smelt. Well they never saw me or smelled me for that matter I guess the wind and sun was in my favor.

Four came in and I shot one and luckily killed it before the dang gun jammed up. All I had on me was my grandpa’s old bolt action .22. Of course this was the only time they didn’t take off running in fact one just sat down within 30 yards of me. So I wasn’t happy thinking I could of shot at least one more ( some words came to my mind that I didn’t even think I knew). I didn’t see the fourth until I got up, he had snuck in behind me. It was a great moment for me as it was my very first doing all by myself.  So while I love to hunt all animals, coyote’s and predator callings is my chocolate or so to speak.

We moved to Montana in November of 2009. Talk about the added bonus of some great new animals to hunt. I haven’t been successful hunting here yet but always enjoy learning new things. I’ve gotten close several times bow hunting with Elk, Muley’s, and Whitetail but have never closed the distance here in Montana. I was able to get a badger this last winter by calling him in which was super exciting. Hopefully this next season will be the best one yet.

I am a Pro Staffer for Mary Roberts Owner of Trophy Chick Apparel. She’s one of my dearest friends. Together along with many other women we are hoping to help change the face of hunting one woman at a time. This is a very important part of what I do and why I love to do it, to educate women and help women of the outdoors.

Laura Schara’s versatile experience as a television host brings a special energy to the outdoors and sports world. Her outdoor TV career began in 2000 when creating and hosting the segment “Wild in the City” on NBC’s Minnesota Bound, where she explored unique things to do in the outdoors right in the metro area of Minneapolis/St.Paul.

She has hosted numerous television projects including nationally televised “ATV Sport TV” on Versus (formally the Outdoor Life Network), Fox Sports Net’s live sports television show ”On the Carpet” and she currently appears weekly on Fox Sports Net’s “Due North Outdoors”.

Laura’s passion for the outdoors was passed onto her from her outdoor enthusiast father, Ron Schara, who taught her all the lessons that needed to be learned to be a successful angler. Her best catch to date is a 6ft, 77lb. halibut caught off the coast of Alaska. She is also an avid trap shooter and enjoys competing with her sister on a summer trap shooting league.
